Changing Relationships and the Eternal You- Lifemyth in Relationship

The Deep Democracy Institute is proud to present the first of its 2014 seminar series that focuses on developing relationship skills.  Changing Relationships and the Eternal You is the first of 4 consecutive units, aimed at developing mastery in relationship facilitation and conflict resolution.

This seminar series will be given in several locations throughout the world during 2014-2015.  Modules can be taken in Nairobi, Amsterdam, Moscow, Kyiv, and San Francisco.  Please see our schedule for specific module locations and dates!

Changing Relationships and the Eternal You

Relationship styles are developed in part from culture and personal history. However, our deepest wishes and most lasting patterns in relationships are mythical.  They are related to timeless aspects of who we are, and express our unique dances on this planet.  Indeed, the lifemyth orchestrates the entire dance.

We each use distinct “dance steps” when we relate with our friends, partners, and team members.  Knowing our own unique "dance steps" can deepen our styles of initiating, following, taking over, conflicting, and resolving.

In our childhood dreams and/or early memories, we find the hidden structure and patterns for our relationship talents, as well as paths that show our personal ways to work with conflicts, love, and leadership.

In this seminar, you will learn tools to discover your own timeless relationship talents, and to use them for relationship mastery.  You will have a chance to work on your personal and team relationships, and your relationship style as a leader.

As in all Deep Democracy Institute seminars, there will also be large group processes for the ad-hoc community to work together on cultural and collective issues that are present in our relationships.

The 2014 DDI Relationship Series

Numerous studies have shown that personal relationships are key determining factors in the experience of flow.  They can potentially support and energize, and can also grind and inhibit.  Feeling burdened by unresolved relationship issues or smoldering and/or unresolved conflicts can affect not only happiness but also one’s health, creativity, and ability to work effectively.

When relationships are going well, teams can create amazing things; romance and unity can blossom; closeness and distance develop naturally; happiness abounds, and life is good. Conversely, unresolved conflicts and tensions absorb energy, create stagnation and paralysis, and reduce creativity.

This seminar series focuses on mastery of many aspects of relationships including:

(a) Self-knowledge:  Understanding the different aspects of yourself and your experience, and using this knowledge to facilitate yourself, the other, and the team/group.

(b) Fluidity:  One of most exciting qualities to deal with in the flow of relationships—how to drop your habits and identity in order to support the new patterns that want to emerge.

(c) The power of communication and awareness:  How framing, clearing up, and making relationship issues transparent in a facilitative way can resolve even the most complicated relationship issues easily.

Intentionally, detailed focus is on some of the most persistent relationship issues that all too commonly appear in this day and age.  Each module will focus on a particular aspect of relationships, with the hope of discovering and practicing new ways to interact that might improve the climates in our work, home, and world spaces.
