Deep Democracy Workshop - Process: Your Body, Your Spirit, and the World

November 4 2016 - November 6 2016

Dr. Ellen Schupbach, Dr. Max Schupbach

Process Work and Deep Democracy as a whole systems approach to personal and organizational development

In this workshop we will research together how process and “dreaming” bring cohesion into your life and a new presence in the moment. “Process” adds meaning to your relationships, and brings renewed courage to face challenges. The deep democracy approach can be used to facilitate new understanding of existing polarizations and conflicts, and suggests new ways to impact the problems of your team and organization. “Process”, Arnold Mindell’s concept of the organizing principle – or system mind - behind group dynamics, relationships conflicts, and organizational tensions, has the potential to work as a universal cure for the stubborn everyday mindsets that define our collective understanding of reality. These mindsets, formed by personal history, cultural identities or organizational cultures, inhibit “out of the box” thinking and perpetuate existing difficulties.
We will work with body experiences (including symptoms, addictions, body image, etc.), relationship conflicts, and sentient experiences (those that we can sense but are nearly unspeakable) using them as compasses for new orientation and new directions.
This workshop will include theoretical presentations as well as practical work in pairs, group process, and demonstrations of the Deep Democracy approach in organizations and teams.

Deep Democracy, developed in the late 70's by Arnold Mindell and research team, is a holistic approach to work with individuals, teams, and organizations. We facilitate one-on-one sessions and small teams to large groups of over 1,000 people. Based on insights from modern physics, complexity theory, psychology, and anthropology, Deep Democracy sees the polarizations that are present in society and the world at large mirrored in our inner conflicts, and also in our relationships and team issues (in families and organizations). Deep Democracy coaching and facilitation makes these hidden structures visible, discovering their meaning and bringing forth innovative and unexpected solutions.
