Anna Cadden
Anna Cadden grew up in Brisbane on the Australian East Coast. She has a degree in Film and Television Production and has been working as a cinematographer and teaching at local universities. In 2003 Anna moved to Yuendumu, an Australian Aboriginal community north west of Alice Springs on the edge of the Tanami Desert. There she joined the famed Warlpiri Media Association as a filmer. WMA is highly regarded nationally and internationally as pioneers of community television and one of the first advocates of Indigenous Cultural Intellectual Property rights for media content. She is the director of photography of the recently completed film “Aborginal Rules.”
Uffe Elbæk
Uffe Elbæk is Minister of Culture of Denmark. He is the founder and former Principal of the KaosPilots International School of New Business Design and Social Innovation, located in Aarhus. The KaosPilots school inspired the creation of several international schools, located in Norway, Sweden and the Netherlands. From 2007 to 2009, Elbæk served as the CEO for the 2009 World Outgames. In July 2010, Elbæk founded the consulting company Change The Game with the focus on leadership training, political campaigning and social innovation concepts. Elbæk served as special advisor for the leadership team at the KaosPilots and as an academic adviser for the HKICC Lee Shau Kee School of Creativity in Hong Kong. Elbæk won a seat in the Folketinget for the Danish Social Liberal Party in the 2011 Danish parliamentary election. On 3 October 2011 he was appointed Culture Minister of Denmark.
Eckart Förster
Eckart Förster is a professor of philosophy at Johns Hopkins University and honorary professor of philosophy at the Humboldt University Berlin in Germany. He holds a B. Phil. and D. Phil. from Oxford University where he was a Rhodes Scholar. He has previously taught at Oxford, Harvard, Stanford, and the University of Munich, and has held visiting positions in North and South America.
Maria Glauser
Maria Glauser is Co-director of The Hub in London, a space that inspires and supports people with ideas to realize imaginative initiatives for a radically better world. She's also a member of the Cultivation Team of Pioneers of Change, an international youth network for systemic change. Maria grew up in Paraguay, where she gained experience in indigenous education. She holds a degree in Education. She has published on the learning and knowledge sharing practices of indigenous groups in the Paraguayan Chaco and the impact of modern schooling. At The Hub in London, she supports a community of 150 social innovators with access to space, connections, knowledge and investment. She's very passionate about learning and organization frameworks that liberate the potential of individuals and communities wanting to re-imagine the social fabric of the world.
Kyoshi Hamano
Kyoshi Hamano is professor of psychology at Bunkei University in Kyoto, Japan. He previously taught at Kyushu University. He is interested in the relationship between individual consciousness and collective change.
J.J. Hendricks
J.J. Hendricks is Professor Emerita at California State University, Stanislaus, where she taught political science, public administration and women’s studies and was Chair of the Departments of Politics and Public Administration, and Ethnic and Women’s Studies. She received B.A. and M.A. degrees from the University of Houston and a Ph.D. from Temple University in political science. She is particularly interested in and published in refereed journals about organization theory, change, and development. She also taught and consulted in program evaluation and intercultural conflict resolution and community change.
Rola I. JadAllah
Prof. Dr. Rola I. JadAllah is married with four children and lives in Arrabeh, Palestine. She is a biologist and currently lectures at the Arab-American University of Jenin, Palestine. Previously, she lectured at Al-Quds University, Jerusalem. Her research focuses on the role of human papilloma virus and chlamydia trachomatics infections in cervical abnormalities in women of the West Bank. Rola is consulting us in the process of establishing medical leadership programs and is the Director of DDI Palestine.
Moses N. Ikiugu
Prof. Moses N. Ikiugu, PhD, is Director of Research in the Department of Occupational Therapy at The University of South Dakota, USA. He is a valued board member of the Deep Democracy Institute, Kenya. He has conducted research and published in a variety of peer-reviewed journals on the philosophical foundation of occupational therapy. He is using dynamical systems theory as a scientific framework for understanding the nature of human occupation, development of professional identity, and creation and application of theory in occupational therapy practice. We are grateful for his expertise in consulting DDI on these issues, and for his 25 years of practical experience in Kenya and the USA.
His psychosocial rehabilitation textbook entitled Psychosocial Conceptual Practice Models in Occupational Therapy: Building Adaptive Capability published by Elsevier/Mosby in 2007, has been adopted by many psychosocial occupational therapy instructors Worldwide.
In his latest book entitled, Occupational Science in the Service of Gaia, published in 2008, Dr. Ikiugu embarked on an exploration of how human choice and occupational performance patterns impact various global issues of our time such as poverty, corruption, population growth, environmental destruction and global warming. He is currently conducting research to discover how individuals can be encouraged to change their occupational choices and performance patterns in order to impact these issues positively.
Lovemore Mbigi
Prof. Lovemore Mbigi is teaching at Rhodes University, South Africa, and has previously taught at University of Witwatersrand, De Montford University, and University of Zimbabwe. He is known for bringing traditional African concepts into modern business thinking, an approach which advocates development as a process which encompasses social concerns with business issues. He is the CEO of African Intellectual Resources, and the author of many books, among them “African Management”, “UBUNTU: The Spirit of African Transformation Management”, “UBUNTU:The African Dream in Management” and the acclaimed “The Spirit of African Leadership”. He holds a Ph.D. in Philosophy and an MBA from Boston University. His consulting group “African Intellectual Resources” works with many organizations in Africa and USA.
PHELIM MCDERMOTT
Phelim has been directing and performing since 1984. He is currently directing Phillip Glass' Satayagrah at the Met in New York. He cofounded Dereck Dereck Productions with Julia Bardsley and his productions won him the London Time Out Director's Award, and the Sweet Shop Owner. Other directing includes Dr. Faustus, Improbable Tales, and a Midsummer Night's Dream for the Shakespeare Company in 1996/97 (TMA Award for Best Touring Production). He directed Shockheaded Peter in London and at the Little Schubert Theatre, Off Broadway with Julian Crouch; a junk opera collaberation with The Tiger Lilies for Cultural Industry (Olivier Award for Best Entertainment, TMA Best Director Award, and Critics Society Best Designer Award).
Productions with Improbable include the multi-award winning 70 Hill Lane, Lifegame, Animo, Coma, Spirit, Sticky, Cinderella, The Hanging Man, and Theatre of Blood, a collaboration with the National Theatre. Phelim McDermott has also worked as an actor in radio, film, TV, and theatre. In 2003, he was awarded a NESTA fellowship to research new ways of rehearsing and creating theatre using Improvisation and Process Oriented Conflict Faciliatation Techniques. As part of this work, he recently facilitated the fifth Open Space Technology event called "Devoted and Disgruntled: What are we going to do about theatre?" for the theatre community.
John McDonald
Ambassador McDonald is a lawyer, diplomat, former international civil servant, development expert and peacebuilder, concerned about world social, economic and ethnic problems. He spent twenty years of his career in Western Europe and the Middle East and worked for sixteen years on United Nations economic and social affairs. He is currently Chairman and co-founder of the Institute for Multi-Track Diplomacy, in Washington D.C., which focuses on national and international ethnic conflicts. Kalyani Mehta
Kalyani Mehta is Professor of Gerontology at the National University of Singapore. She has published six books and more than 40 articles in international peer reviewed journals. Her research interests include among others Elder Care Policies, Widowhood, Gerontological Counselling Models, and Long Term Care. The cross-cultural aspects and experiences of the respondents are often highlighted in her research.
Kalyani Mehta has served as consultant to several international and regional organizations such as U.N. ESCAP (Bangkok) and Asia Development Research Forum, a program sponsored by the International Development Research Centre (Canada). She has made significant contributions to policy development as a member of the National Advisory Council of Family and Aged.
Prof Mehta is a member of the Singapore Parliament.
Amy Mindell
Amy Mindell holds an M.A. and Ph.D. in psychology and is a diplomate of the Process Oriented Psychology Center of Zurich. She wrote” Metaskills: The Spiritual Art of Therapy”, “Riding the Horse Backwards” with her husband Arnold Mindell, “Coma, a Healing Journey”, and “An Alternative to Therapy” as well as many papers in professional journals. Her work with art, music and puppets appears in her newest book “The Dreaming Source of Creativity”. She uses a multi-media approach to explain and teach the concepts of Deep Democracy worldwide. Arnold Mindell
Arnold Mindell is known for his development of "process work" (process oriented psychology) and "worldwork". He is the author of 19 books in 20 languages, including "The Year One: Community Creation from Global Problems and Tensions", "The Leader as a Martial Artist", "Quantum Mind", and "The Deep Democrachy of Open Forums". Arny has an M.S. from M.I.T., was a Jungian training analyst, and has a Ph.D. in psychology. He is also known in the area of conflict management for his "Sitting in the Fire" and for his integration of psychology and physics, work on dreams, bodywork, relationships, and for interventions in near death situations. Theo Nkone
Theo Nkone was Cabinet Ministerial Adviser under Nelson Mandela, and CIO of the South African Government. Theo held various roles as CEO, COO, and CIO in engineering, mining, banking and insurance industries. He is now involved in several South African NGOs. Theo has degrees from the London Business School and John Hopkins University. He is an expert in strategy and business development.
Ana Pasztor
Prof. Dr. Ana Pasztor is professor for computer science at Florida International University in Miami. She has earned her doctorate in mathematics at Darmstadt University, Germany. Presently, she teaches classes in logic, computer ethics, and cognitive science. She has numerous refereed publications in a wide range of areas such as abstract algebra, logics of programming, artificial intelligence, requirement engineering, design, and more recently, foundational issues in cognitive science, women’s studies, pragmatics, and mathematics education. She has researched and written extensively on the topic of women and science, and women's education in mathematics and science.
Maryanne Wachira
Maryanne Wachira is the Director of the Deep Democracy Institute Kenya. Her passion for assisting people in expressing who they are led her to DDI Kenya, and her depth and centeredness made her director. Maryanne is the owner and president of "Edited Expression", a professional editing and writing company in Nairobi. She has directed numerous media projects within the non-profit sector, editing and supervising the production of newsletters, etc., to support individuals and groups to come out with who they are. Her vision is to use words artistically to convey transcendent experiences such as hope and inspiration that can transform lives.
Maryanne worked as Operations Manager for IEC Strategy Ltd., where she implemented and managed communication programs to assist international development organizations to have more impact in the communities they work in, better relations with their partners and supporters, and greater media presence. She is currently involved in various media projects for social and community development, and has been involved in editing a large variety of books and information manuals, including “How to run a Successful ‘Akiba na Mkopo’ Group” (Legacy Books Press, 2005).
