Hidden Structures and Natural Flow in Relationships

Our relationships - whether tumultuous, stagnant, full of potential, sources of bliss or abysses of despair - keep us busy in our private lives and consume time and energy during our work lives. Some relationships are gardens to grow in; others can be experienced as either joyful or burdensome responsibilities. However each relationship contains its own unique innate meaning and inherent change process which can be discovered to enrich  and resolve conflicts and tensions. Processwork shows how unintended communication, found in our dreams as well as in our conflicts and disagreements, follow a hidden structure. The waves, turbulences and currents are not the result of "wrong" behavior, but rather part of a natural flow created by the hidden river bed. This flow brings relief and resolution as well as creativity, rejuvenation, and new impulses for both relationship partners as well as their surrounding communities.

The 2014 DDI Relationship Series

Numerous studies have shown that personal relationships are key determining factors in the experience of flow.  They can potentially support and energize, and can also grind and inhibit.  Feeling burdened by unresolved relationship issues or smoldering and/or unresolved conflicts can affect not only happiness but also one’s health, creativity, and ability to work effectively.

When relationships are going well, teams can create amazing things; romance and unity can blossom; closeness and distance develop naturally; happiness abounds, and life is good.

Conversely, unresolved conflicts and tensions absorb energy, create stagnation and paralysis, and reduce creativity.

This seminar series focuses on mastery of many aspects of relationships including:

(a) Self-knowledge:  Understanding the different aspects of yourself and your experience, and using this knowledge to facilitate yourself, the other, and the team/group.

(b) Fluidity:  One of most exciting qualities to deal with in the flow of relationships—how to drop your habits and identity in order to support the new patterns that want to emerge.

(c) The power of communication and awareness:  How framing, clearing up, and making relationship issues transparent in a facilitative way can resolve even the most complicated relationship issues easily.

Intentionally, detailed focus is on some of the most persistent relationship issues that all too commonly appear in this day and age.  Each module will focus on a particular aspect of relationships, with the hope of discovering and practicing new ways to interact that might improve the climates in our work, home, and world spaces.
