We published our first DDI newsletter WORD IS Winter 2012 ! Check it out and read about some of the 2012 highlights, for example our collaboration with Germany to create a stakeholder dialogue training across North Africa and the Middle East, our new initiative on leadership development in the area of food farming and community building. Look at the video on the creation of a graffiti for our newsletter by a street artists on a wall in Kibera, one of Africa's biggest slums. Also check on an eye witness report of our first International intensive course in Otranto in Southern Italy with 80 participants from 24 countries and all continents.

Our Per Van Spall in Indonesia

Our Director of Development South East Asia, Per Van Spall is in Djakarta this week, before travelling across Indonesia. Per, at one point recipient of the Young Entrepreneur of the Year award in the Netherlands has roots in the region and told us, how excited he is to reconnect this time. We are with you, dear Per and sending our support and good wishes to you and your mission. A Deep Democracy Institute in Indonesia, possibly in collaboration with the Indonesian business community and government circles is a high dream for all of us here at DDI.

Deep Democracy Exchange

Deep Democracy Exchange is our Publishing and Production Label. We publish books and produce movies. In 2012 we have republished 3 of Arnold Mindell's books, which were out of print, in the Deep Democracy Classic Series: Dreambody, River's Way and just recently fresh out of the oven "Quantum Mind". As we speak, our first Polish production goes into print, a Polish translation of the "Deep Democracy of Open Forums". Check out our website at www.deepdemocracyexchange.com. Together with a Russian Television Channel "Channel 21" we recorded a series of 12 demonstration of working with people in various situations using Process Work. Soon we will have an English version of these recordings on our youtube channel. We have also published the Deep Democracy of Open Forums in Russian. All of these books can be bought in their own countries, but also on Amazon as hardcopies or e-books. Thanks to everyone who helped to make this happen. We are having a lot of fun with it all.

Interesting evening in our "Business Clinic" in Kyiv, organized jointly by DDI and Investgazeta, Ukraine's leading investment newspaper. Good discussion about the core of business, how business conflicts are expressions of creativity that can be harnessed to move the business forward, and a live case discussion with an IT entrepreneur on the relationship between the business management and development teams. Organizations often look for systemic solutions that eliminate conflict; we look for systemic solutions that use the energy in unavoidable conflicts to move companies forward. For this purpose, we recommend facilitated group process with all stakeholders, once a year, for one day, for every forward thinking company.

Deep Democracy Leadership Intensive for Individuals, Teams and Organizations

October 12 - 21, 2012 in Otranto, Southern Italy

with Drs. Max and Ellen Schupbach, Dr. Stanford Siver, Dr. Ruth Weyermann, Dr. Josef Helbling, and team How can we become congruent and stay connected with our deep and diverse experiences, making them useful for our teams, and not lose sight of the purpose and goal that we are trying to achieve? We think our 10-day Intensive answers this question — Process-oriented Leadership. We will learn facilitation methods to discover a group’s deeper direction for increased results. We will practice to unfold the diversity of our inner experiences while leading and facilitating. We will also study to co-lead and facilitate the teams that we belong to. Process-oriented leadership unifies spiritual direction, relationships, feelings, and their integration into our own project goals, as well as our team and organizational directions. Open Forum on Climate Change, Portland, June 2nd

Is facing Climate Change as urgent as some suggest - And what if anything needs to be done about it?

This is the title of an Open Forum in Portland on June 2nd, facilitated by the founders of Worldwork and Processwork, Drs. Amy and Arny Mindell. Together with leading climate scientists they initiated this opportunity for a public dialogue in Portland. They write: The polarization of public discussion about climate change, and society's response to it, are due in part to the lack of communication among dissenting parties. Let's bring together people with divergent views on climate change. We will invite a balanced group of people to this discussion, including some who are enthusiastic about the need to respond to climate change and some who doubt the need for response to climate change, whatever the source of their doubt. Please join us as we come together as a learning community to celebrate both the coming New Year and the one now passing into the realm of personal history. We will seize the occasion to re-discover the fire within us that lights our passions. We will play and unfold our feelings, dreams, hesitations, and find courage to bring these passions out into the world. Then, we will use Deep Democracy tools to find strategies and action plans to turn them into measurable results for the coming year.
This is a Deep Democracy gathering for Dreamers and Doers, Leaders and Home and Community Makers, Modern Mystics and Holistic Entrepreneurs, Spiritual Mavericks and Conservatives, Scientists and Change Agents. All voices are welcome!
We will present a short introduction into the concepts mentioned above, and then offer an exercise to do in pairs that will lead you through the steps of a process aimed to facilitate your dreaming.
After closure, you are invited to hang out with colleagues, friends, snacks and juices.

Think Tank Gothenburg

Bernhard Le Roux (City of Gothenburg), in collaboration with Mistra Urban Futures, has organized a think-tank of conflict resolution facilitators and diversity experts to discuss building sustainable futures for Gothenburg, Sweden’s second largest city, and other cities. Mistra Urban Futures is a Swedish organization that gathers socially relevant knowledge and experience essential to understanding, improving and communicating sustainable urban development processes. It is a center for interaction between research and its practical application, promoting knowledge transfer and cooperation between businesses, interest organizations, and the public. Invited think tank participants are Max and Ellen Schupbach from the Deep Democracy Institute, Josef P. Folger (Temple Univ.); Cathy Wilkinson (Stockholm Resilience Ctr); Judith Saul; The Ctr for Conflict Resolution (Copenhagen); the Swedish Ass’n for Municipalities and Regions; Gothenburg Univ.; and Gothenburg’s City Office.
