Our New Facebook Page
dear friends, we have a new facebook page. Check us out on http://bit.ly/cHTS90. We had fun putting it together and surprised and joyous about the support from so many people. Ellen and I are packing and will be on the road soon. Can't wait to see our friends soon.
Our new website www.ddi-eastafrica.co.ke
Well, our new website is finished for now. www.ddi-eastafrica.co.ke is up and running. Thanks so much to Ellen, Maryanne, Florence, Moses, Mrs. Vuzio, Stanford, Lutz, and Stefan for all the work that went into it. Wait a few more weeks, and we will have galleries, and reports and everything else on there. Also, if you would like to put a contribution on the blog, just add a comment or send your article and we will publish it here. Till soon in Nairobi.

DDI EAST AFRICA - A BAOBAB TREE
"Truth is like a baobab tree; one person's arms cannot embrace it" (African proverb)
We are grateful to Florence Champin from Nairobi for passing on this proverb to us. It's an image that resonates with the essence of Deep Democracy, as we understand it. Even if some arms are pulling against each other, and not in touch, they are all trying to embrace the bigger truth.
Today www.ddi-eastafrica.co.ke raised its flag - though it's a provisional flag, it is a flag, nontheless, waving in the winds. Thanks to everyone who helped to get this done.

Deep Democracy Institute East Africa
Good news from Zak, our Kenyan lawyer this morning: DDI East Africa passed all t
he hurdles and is now a registered organisation in Kenya. Thanks Florence, Zak and Maryanne who worked so hard on making this happen. Our website in Kenya is about to go live, keep watching this at the end of the week, we hope to have some news for you.
DDI Russia
We are excited to have the opportunity to explore the possibility to create a DDI Center for training and consulting in Moscow this fall with a pilot program. (Check on schedule on the main website for details) Next year, we are committed to starting a program in St. Petersburg, and hopefully, the two centers can work together and create an integrated training with many possibilities. Thank you Xenia Kuleshova in Moscow and Yura Pavlenko in St. Petersburg for your inspiration and enthusiasm, and our Ukrainian friends in Kyiv for their support in this project.
website renewal - behind the curtains
Behind the curtains, we have been involved in a massive workover of our website. Together with our amazing webteam in Germany, we moved the entire website into a new system that allows multilingual translation. We enjoyed our skype trainings for the new content management system, 6 am in the morning for Ellen and Max in Portland, late evening for Ahmad in Jenin, Palestine and Elena in Kyiv, Ukraine, midday for Stanford in Brazil and late afternoon for our trainer Lutz Cramer in Dortmund Germany. So watch out for translations of the various pages, first in Russian and Arabic, but soon in Spanish, French, Vietnamese and other languages.
DDI East Africa
We are in the middle of incorporating as DDI East Africa. It's been a great journey, led first and foremost by our incredible Florence Champin in Nairobi. Florence is the coordinator, director and spiritus rector of the DDI network, and key organizer of our upcoming workshop in April. The Deep Democracy Institute East Africa - DDI EA - Board consists of the Chair Maryanne Wachira
from Nairobi, Moses Ikiugu, a professor who was born in Kenya and lives and works no
w at the University of South Dakota, and Max Schupbach, Portland, OR, USA. Maryanne will take over from Florence as the director of DDI EA in April, when Florence is moving to Europe.
